Rupee trades almost at 75.28 against US dollar when deals open
On the national stock market front, the Sensex BSE was trading up 525.54 points or 0.86% to 61,831.49; while the larger NSE Nifty was up 166.55 points or 0.91% to 18,505.10
The Indian rupee was trading slightly lower 2 paise to 75.28 yen against the US dollar at the start of trading on October 18, following a stronger greenback against its main rivals abroad.
In the interbank forex market, the local unit opened on a steady note and traded cautiously between a high of 75.26 and a low of 75.29 against the US dollar.
On October 14, the rupee had settled at 75.26 yen against the US dollar. The Forex market was closed on October 15th for the “Dussehra” holidays.
Meanwhile, the dollar index, which measures the strength of the greenback against a basket of six currencies, was up 0.17% to 94.09.
Futures on Brent crude, the world’s benchmark for oil, rose 1.07% to $ 85.76 per barrel.

Foreign institutional investors remained net buyers in the capital market on Oct. 14, as they bought shares worth 1,681.60 crore, according to exchange data.
