Minister of Finance commits to providing an enabling environment for business
Finance and Revenue Minister Miftah Ismail has reiterated the current government’s commitment to providing an enabling and friendly environment for the business community in Pakistan.
He was talking to a delegation from the Pakistan Jewelers Association led by its president Shahzad Iqbal who met him Thursday in Islamabad.
The delegation gave an overview of the jewelery sector in Pakistan and its contribution to the economy. They also pointed out the issues facing the jewelry community regarding taxation and asked for government support to resolve their issues and provide tax relief. He was informed that these problems are proving to be a major obstacle to the development of this sector.
The Minister recognized the contribution of the jewelery sector in economic development and assured the delegation to grant maximum tax relief to this sector. The Minister of Finance further stressed that jewelers should play their rightful role in strengthening the national economy by improving the export of jewellery.
The delegation thanked the Minister of Finance for addressing their problems and assured the Minister of Finance of the growth of this sector with the cooperation of the current government.
