Louise Walsh launches Walsh Capital

Former CEO of Future Generation Louise Walsh is branching out independently by launching Walsh Capital.

Walsh Capital will provide tailor-made capital raising for a select group of boutique investment managers.

Walsh said Financial standard it will likely start with three or four clients – with a new private equity firm, an impact manager, an activist manager and a global equity manager likely to be announced.

Walsh Capital will then put these clients in touch with sophisticated investors, including family offices and high net worth individuals.

“I’m trying to design a portfolio of clients that appeals to a multigenerational family office,” said Walsh.

Walsh will lead Walsh Capital as a Managing Director, supported by an advisory group that includes Paradice Investment Management founder David Paradice and Family Office Research and Management founder Thomas T Murphy.

Michael Walsh, head of UBS’s global family offices for Australia and New Zealand (unrelated), also supports the new company and is expected to join the advisory group.

Investors will not be billed by Walsh Capital; the investment managers will be the clients and pay the firm a success fee for the money raised and an annual fee for maintaining the services.

“I will also be offering an investor engagement program over time for clients, and that will not be a normal investor relations function,” said Walsh.

“I will be calling my investor base twice a year to update them on clients and get feedback and pass it on. I will also have face to face meetings with investors every year, I will do webinars where I will introduce the client and audience will be investors and advisors and I will start podcasting again – featuring clients or an interesting investor. “

Walsh said the new venture combines his two passions – raising capital and engaging with investors. She said she received a first lesson in fundraising from her father, who was very successful in raising funds for charities and philanthropic activities.
